Hillside Students Take to the Stage

Roots and Shoots Variety Show displays students' unique talents.

students displayed their varied talents during the Roots and Shoots Variety Show Friday as 25 fifth- and sixth-graders sang, danced, told jokes and played piano for their friends and family.

The Friday night show was one of two performances of the talent showcase. As part of their Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance, the students will perform at , an assisted living facility in town, during a day of service Monday. 

Students from the school will spend the day performing services to help seniors, the ill and the environment both in and around the community.

Although she participates in cheerleading, it was Tèa Guarino’s first time on stage. She and her dance partners, Sophia Alexis and Julia Moran, spent weeks practicing their singing and dancing to the Selena Gomez song, “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know.”

“I'm kind of in-between nervous and excited at the same time,” Guarino said as she prepared for the performance.
