Irene: District Saw no Significant Damage, Five Schools Without Power

And all district schools will be closed Monday.

The  is reporting very little damage to its buildings following Irene, but is closing the buildings for Monday.

According to a release on the district website, all district schools, except for the high school gym, will be closed Monday for power restoration and some clean-up, but the district is reporting no significant damage to any of its buildings.

As of Sunday evening, there were five schools without power—, , , John F. Kennedy Primary and the .

In addition, new teacher orientation has been canceled for Monday. It has been rescheduled for Tuesday, beginning at 9 a.m. at Madeline's Restaurant on Vosseller Avenue.

And, the release said, all athletic practices previously scheduled for Monday will be held, except for freshman field hockey, freshman girls soccer, boys cross country and both varsity and junior varsity girls tennis.
