Meet of Champs Postposed Due to Severe Weather in Middle of 3200
The boys 3200 is stopped with two laps to go.
In a strange turn of events, the track and field Meet of Champs was posponed Thursday due to severe weather in the middle of the seeded heat of the boys 3200 meter run.
With less than two laps to go in the 3200, lightening in the area forced officials to stop the race. Bridgewater's Jake Ruskan was in that seeded heat, and was forced to stop with two laps [800 meters] to go.
The meet is scheduled to resume Monday at 6 p.m. at Old Bridge's Lombardi Field. Events to be completed include the boys and girls 3200, 4x400 relays, boys shot put, boys long jump, girls triple jump and girls javelin.
