Vo-Tech Student Speaks at London Conference

Bridgewater resident Emad Madha participated in the World Skills International Conference last week.

Bridgewater resident, and student in the Academy of Health and Medical Sciences at the , represented the country at the Global Skills Marketplace during the 41st World Skills International Conference Oct. 5 through Oct. 8 in London, according to a release from the school's website.

According to the release, Madha was asked to speak about the United States' communications culture, namely Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Madha was also going to be sharing his thoughts on the role of youth leaders in communicating  the importance of taking part in career and technical education, the release said.

Madha is currently treasurer of the National Skills USA organization, and went to London for the conference with New Jersey Skills USA Director Peter Carey, other student officers and the Skills USA World Team.

Over the years, the release said, Madha has received a gold medal in the 2011 Science, Technology and Mathematics Technical Services competition through NJ SkillsUSA, among other awards.

The World Skills Conference sees students from several countries coming together for competitions and leadership seminars. According to the release, the Skills USA World Team competed in 17 contests in the areas of beauty therapy, graphic design, restaurant service and web design.
