Patriots Power Past Sharks 6-4

Nearly 8,000 see Somerset beat Camden.

The Somerset Patriots defeated the Camden Riversharks 6-4 in front of 7,709 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.

Somerset took the lead in the bottom of the third after Jesse Hoorelbeke (12) drove a two-run home run over the left field wall.

The Patriots added to their lead the following inning on solo homeruns by Yusuf  Carter (9) and Jonny Tucker (2) for the 4-0 advantage.

Somerset continued to pile on the runs in the bottom half of the fifth after Aaron Mathews (4) drove a two run shot over the outfield wall that made the score 6-0.

Camden rallied to score four runs in the sixth highlighted by a three run homerun by Pedro Feliz (3).  Later that inning Raul Padron came around to score on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 6-4.

Patriots starter Doug Arguello (5-3) got the win after allowing four runs on two hits in six innings of work.  Camden starter Keith Weiser (4-5) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings pitched.  Josh Rupe picked up his 15th save of the season for Somerset after tossing a scoreless ninth.

The 2012 Somerset Patriots Season will continue on Saturday Night when the Patriots take on the Riversharks at 7:05 pm. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Brett Jodie Bobblehead Doll.
