Patriots Swept by Barnstormers

Lancaster's offense has another big effort.

The Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the Somerset Patriots 8-3 before 6,151 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday evening.

Lancaster jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI base hit by Blake Gailen.

The Barnstormers exploded to score six more runs in the third highlighted by a three run blast over the left field wall by Ryan Harvey (20) to make the score 7-0.

An RBI single by Emerson Frostad in the fifth tacked on another run for Lancaster and increased their lead to 8-0.

The Patriots scored twice in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Colin Curtis and an RBI single by Corey Smith to cut the lead to 8-2.

A fielder’s choice by Dan DeGeorge in the ninth brought home a run for Somerset to make the score 8-3.

Lancaster starter Mark Brackman (8-8) picked up the win after tossing seven scoreless innings and striking out six.  Roy Merritt (8-8) got the loss for Somerset, surrendering eight runs on 12 hits in five innings pitched.

The 2012 Somerset Patriots Season will continue on the road until Friday, September 7th when the Patriots return home to take on the Lancaster Barnstormers at 7:05 pm.  The game features a Post-Game Fireworks Show and Diabetes Awareness Night.
