Patriots Win It With Walkoff Single In Ninth

Dan DeGeorge drives in the winning run against Camden.

The defeated the Camden Riversharks 4-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, Dan DeGeorge hit a walk off RBI single to break a 3-3 tie and win it for the Patriots.

The Riversharks scored in the top of the third inning after Chris Walker singled and came around to score on an RBI base hit by Eduardo Perez for the 1-0 lead.

Camden added two runs the following inning on an RBI single by Lloyd Turner that scored Alvin Colina.  Danny Santiesteban also came around to score on the same play on an error by second baseman Dan Hennigan to make the score 3-0.

The Patriots fought back to even the score in the bottom half of the sixth inning.  A two run double to left field by Yunesky Sanchez started the rally and Jesse Hoorelbeke followed later in the inning with an RBI groundout to plate Sanchez and make the score 3-3.

Andrew Dobies (2-2) picked up the win with a scoreless ninth inning pitched. Zach Hammes (1-4) suffered the loss, allowing a run on three hits in 1.1 innings pitched.

The 2012 Somerset Patriots season will continue at home on Thursday night when the Patriots take on the Riversharks at 7:05 p.m. The first 4,600 fans will receive a Patriots Baseball Cap. It is also Olympic Night at the ballpark, featuring track and field legend Joetta Clark Diggs.
