Riversharks End Patriots Winning Streak

More than 6,000 fans see Somerset lose one-run game.

The Camden Riversharks defeated the Somerset Patriots 2-1 in front of 6,299 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.

The Patriots jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second after Jake Fox singled and came around to score after Yusuf Carter grounded into a double play.

Camden rallied to take the lead in the top of the seventh inning.  Jake Eigsti reached on an error, Paddy Matera singled, and both runners came around to score on an RBI single by Eduardo Perez for the 2-1 lead.

Camden reliever Mariano Gomez (2-1) got the win after tossing 1.1 scoreless innings and one strikeout.  Somerset reliever T.J. Hose (1-3) suffered the loss, after two unearned runs allowed the Riversharks to take the lead during his inning of work.  Zach Hammes picked up his first save of the season after retiring the Patriots in order in the ninth.

The 2012 Somerset Patriots season will continue on Sunday Night when the Patriots take on the Riversharks at 5:05 pm. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Patriots 15th Anniversary Baseball Cap.
