Somerset Patriots Add Three Pitchers

Bridgewater, NJ – The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced the signings of right-handed pitchers and twin brothers Jason and Josh Lowey and right-handed pitcher David Harden.

Jason Lowey has spent the last two seasons at the Single-A level for the Atlanta Braves organization. Prior to signing with the Braves, Jason Lowey pitched in the independent Frontier League.

Jason Lowey had back-to-back 20 plus saves seasons for River City in 2009 and 2010.

He has a minor league career 9-8 record with a 3.09 ERA, 55 saves, and 235 strikeouts in 180.2 innings pitched in 137 games.

Josh Lowey has five seasons of independent minor league baseball experience in the Frontier League and the American Association. He spent last season at Wichita where he finished with a 15-4 record, a 3.57 ERA, and 96 strikeouts in 133.2 innings pitched in 23 games.

Josh Lowey has a minor league career 44-13 record, a 3.28 ERA, and 395 strikeouts in 483.1 innings pitched in 92 games played.

“From everything I’ve seen and heard about the Lowey brothers, they are bulldogs on the mound. Jason is best suited as a later inning guy out of the bullpen, while Josh has historically been more of a starter. They have both had success wherever they have been and I look for that to continue in Somerset,” said Brett Jodie, manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

Harden also spent the past two seasons in the Frontier League with Southern Illinois. Last season, he had a 10-5 record, a 3.05 ERA, and 78 strikeouts in 135.2 innings pitched in 19 games all as a starter.

Harden has a minor league career 17-10 record, a 2.98 ERA, and 145 strikeouts in 256.1 innings pitched in 38 games.

“I have been told by many familiar with David that he was one of the best pitchers in the Frontier League the past two seasons. He creates deception with his delivery and does a good job of pounding the zone. We look forward to what he will do for us this season,” Jodie said.

The 2013 Somerset Patriots will begin at home on Thursday, April 18th at 7:05 pm. For more information about the upcoming season, call (908) 252-0700 or visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
