Somerset Patriots To Host Food Drive On Friday

Team partners with Food Bank Network of Somerset County and Rutgers Against Hunger.

The five-time Atlantic League Champion  have announced that they have partnered with The Food Bank Network of Somerset County to host a canned food drive during their May 25 game at TD Bank Ballpark against the Camden Riversharks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and the game also includes a post-game fireworks show.

Fans are being asked to bring a canned food donation to the game, specifically canned meats, such as spam, corned beef, stew, or tuna. As a special thank you, all fans that donate a canned food item will receive a complimentary ticket to a future Somerset Patriots game.

The mission of The Food Bank Network of Somerset County is to distribute food and to provide other basic human needs to those less fortunate in our community in a manner that recognizes and advances self worth and human dignity. Their method of distributing this food is through three food pantries, located in Somerville, Bound Brook, and North Plainfield, and a warehouse in Bridgewater. Their goal is to help create the opportunity for each person to become self-sufficient.

Rutgers Against Hunger, a universitywide initiative working to address the issues of hunger across the state of New Jersey, has also partnered with the Patriots and The Food Bank Network of Somerset County to assist in promotion and collection of donations for the event.
