Patriots Beat Sugar Land 6-2

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 6-2 in front of 6,648 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday evening. 

 

The Patriots took a 3-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by Joe Holden and a two run single by Jonny Tucker.

Somerset tacked on three more runs in the fourth after James Skelton came around to score on an error and Aharon Eggleston drove a two run double to  center field for the 6-0 advantage.

Sugar Land got on the board in the eighth on a solo homerun to right by Eduardo Perez (8) to make the score 6-1.

 

A solo homerun by Travis Scott (8) in the ninth added one more for the Skeeters for the 6-2 final.

 

Somerset starter Roy Merritt (1-2) got the win after tossing five scoreless innings, while not allowing a hit.  Sugar Land starter David Pauley (3-2) suffered the loss, allowing six runs on 10 hits in four innings pitched.
