Bridgewater Field Hockey Suffers Familiar Defeat
Christen Piersanti makes 19 saves as Panthers fall for eighth straight year in Group final.
For the eighth straight year, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School field hockey team took on perennial powerhouse Eastern High School in the Group 4 championship.
The outcome on Sunday, however, was no different than the last seven years.
Eastern won its 14th straight Group championship with a 9-2 win.

It took a few minutes for the Viking offense to get in a rhythm but once they did they kept the Panthers pinned in their own end for almost the entire first half. Panther goalie Christen Piersanti, who was under constant pressure, did all she could to keep the Panthers in the game. For the game, Piersanti had 19 saves including a save on a stroke shot.
