Somerville High School Winter Guard Competition

The Somerville High School Music Boosters Association is sponsoring the 8th Annual SHS Winter Guard Competition on Saturday, March 31 at Branchburg Central Middle School, 220 Baird Road, Branchburg, starting at 2:30 p.m. To date, 40 guards are registered to compete, including teams from Bridgewater-Raritan and Hillsborough High Schools. Somerville High School has two competitive teams, the Scholastic A Team and the Performance Group.

The Somerville High School Scholastic A team will perform in exhibition at 9:00 p.m. and the Performance Group will perform at 7:26 p.m. in judged exhibition. Bridgewater-Raritan High School's Scholastic A team will perform at 8:16 p.m.

The Somerville High School Scholastic A team will be traveling to Dayton, Ohio to compete in the WGI (Winter Guard International) Color Guard World Championships in April. The Somerville High School Scholastic A team is now first in the USA in their division after this past weekend's WGI regional competition.

The cost of the event is $8 per adult and $5 for students and seniors.  The cafeteria will be open with a variety of food available.  Somerville Middle School and Branchburg Central Middle School students who are in 8th grade and interested in participating in Color Guard and/or Winter Guard can attend for free if they present their school ID card.
