JV Baseball Secures Major Comeback Over Basking Ridge

Panthers come back in the late innings to take the lead and win, 19-11.

A late Panthers rally Thursday was sparked by a near-home run on a two-run double that hit the wall, and then another two-run double in the sixth inning that helped turn an early 7-1 deficit into a surging 19-11 victory for Bridgewater-Raritan over Basking Ridge.

IN SHORT

It was 7-1 early on in favor of the visiting Basking Ridge, but the Bridgewater Panthers tightened things up in the home fourth inning to make it 9-6 Basking Ridge lead heading into the fifth inning. In the home half of the sixth, the Panthers grasped control of the lead, then used two two-run doubles in the late innings to spark their furious rally. The lead ballooned until the final margin of 19-11, in favor of the Panthers, by the game's end. What at first looked like a bleak outcome for the Panthers turned into a rousing late-inning victory for the junior varsity squad.
