Bridgewater's Big Third Quarter Squashes Franklin

Three touchdowns in the first minutes after halftime seal the game.

The Bridgewater-Raritan High School Panthers had Friday's game against the Franklin Warriors under control when the third quarter began.

And the Panthers had the game sealed six minutes later, after scoring three touchdowns in the opening minutes of the second half.

Franklin's problems started when they found themselves pinned down near their own goal line on the opening kick off. The Panthers pushed for a safety—getting a fumble recovery instead and enjoying first and goal at the 4 yard line.

Two plays later, and the Panthers padded their lead. The Warriors then turned the ball over on downs, and the Panthers moved downfield. Running Back Matthew Eichorn scored on a 15-yard play to advance the Panther lead to 28-6.

Then, Franklin bumbled the kickoff return when a Warrior jumped to grab the bounced kickoff and touched the ball but couldn't grab it. The Panthers landed on the ball to take possession, then succeeded in scoring again.

When the dust settled, the Panthers has scored the last points of the night.
