Panthers' Four-Game Winning Streak Ends

Panthers manage just three hits and leave four runners in scoring position.

The Bridgewater-Raritan High School softball team notched just three hits, committed three errors and couldn’t find the big knock in the clutch Tuesday as the Panthers fell to the Hillsborough Raiders and its ace Brittany Ksiezopolski, 5-0 at Hillsborough High School Tuesday.

IN SHORT

The Panthers team was outpitched, outhit and out-fielded, as Bridgewater-Raritan mustered just three hits against the Hillsborough team, and committed three errors, including one in the second inning that chased home the game’s first two runs.

And while a pair of singles by Nicole Braun and a leadoff knock by Deanna
Gonnella in the fifth inning were the only Bridgewater hits Tuesday, the Panthers got three other runners on, but stranded all six—including four in scoring position.

Panthers freshman Megan Collins started in the circle and deserved better, allowing just two earned runs on five hits during her three innings to suffer just her second loss.

Bridgewater senior Alicia Gonnella finished up with three scoreless frames to give her team an unfulfilled chance to come back.

Nicole Braun—The sophomore designated hitter collected two hits and reached
on a first-inning error to lead the Panthers offense.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES

Deanna Gonnella—The freshman led off the fifth inning with a single to center
field in one of only three hits Bridgewater-Raritan managed Tuesday.

Alicia Gonnella—The senior pitcher came on in relief to start the fourth inning and turned in three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, two walks and striking out one.
