Bright Horizons Holds Lemonade Stand

The work is part of the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, nearly 30 locations throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania will host Alex’s Lemonade Stands throughout the months of July and August.

At Bright Horizons, "Toward a Better World: Helping Children Make a Difference" is a curriculum component, supporting and guiding children’s development of empathy, compassion and social awareness. The children at Bright Horizons regularly engage in community service activities at their centers and support their foundation (Bright Horizons Foundation for Children). Pediatric cancer has effected many children, families and staff at the centers, and Bright Horizons is looking forward to helping raise funds toward finding cures.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation emerged from the front-yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Scott announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer.

Since Scott held that first stand, the foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $55 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 250 research projects nationally.

On Wednesday, Bright Horizons will hold its stand in Bridgewater, at 1264 Route 202/206, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
