Mosque Hearings Begin...Again (Really!)

Tuesday and Wednesday night hearings set to review plans for old Redwood Inn on Mountain Top Road.

It's been a long and confusing road for the denied application by the Al Falah Center's plan to build a mosque on Mountain Top Road.

The plan was denied by the township, but when the center sued, a federal judge ruled the township could not consider an ordinance only permitting houses of worship on major roads that was enacted after the center's application was submitted.

Consequently, the application must be reconsidered by the Planning Board—which was set to do that in December until a winter storm pushed it off until after New Year's.

Barring any last minute settlements or orders, or unexpected winter storms, the hearings should begin anew at 7 p.m Tuesday, at Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School.
