School Resource Officer to be Funded by Township, School Board

With no opposition, the Township Council agreed on Monday to a proposal by the Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education to fund a second resource officer for the high school.

Burglar Guilty of Breaking Into Bridgewater Home

A Bergen County man was found guilty Tuesday of burglarizing a Hodge Drive, Bridgewater home in April 2011.

It took less than two hours for a Superior Court jury in Somerville to find Jerry Montgomery, 32, of Teaneck guilty on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.

To those who knew only his public image, Jack Welch was a successful businessman who, with his partners in Growth Restaurants, established a string of well-known eateries, including the Bamboo Grille in Basking Ridge, The Famished Frog in Morristown, and the former Thirsty Turtle in Bernardsville and The Store in Basking Ridge, among others.

But a Monday morning memorial service for Welch held at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church highlighted another side of his life that his friends said was growing increasingly important: his prayer groups that brought together hundreds of area residents, mostly men.

Bridgewater-Raritan Supervisors Get 2 Percent Raise for 2013-14

The Board of Education and the union representing supervisors in the Bridgewater-Raritan School District have reached an agreement on a new contract that expires in 2016.

Under the terms of the agreement ratified by the school board on Tuesday, the supervisors will receive a 2 percent raise in the 2013-14 school year, a 1.8 percent raise in the 2014-15 school year and a 1.75 percent increase in the 2015-16 school year.
