Sometimes there's just not enough days in the week, but every Wednesday we'll give you an idea of something to do to relax, spend time with family and just take some time for yourself. And coming up in only one week is an exciting golf event for women in business to meet, greet and eat. The Somerset County Business Partnership "Women in Business" group is hosting its third annual "Golf Clinic and Lunch for Women in Business" May 23 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Callaway Golf Learning Center at the Neshanic Valley Golf Course. Women in Business is a program that is directed at the needs of women, and provides opportunities for those women who own businesses. The district has completed radon testing after some parents expressed concerns—and it was determined that all buildings are safe. Board of education vice president Patrick Breslin announced at the May 8 meeting that a total of 900 tests were done throughout the district to ensure that all buildings are safe. “This is the first time this has been done in five years or more, but we did the testing to assuage anyone’s concerns,” he said. “There are no state requirements to do these at any interval.” With the first tests done, Breslin said, all but three came back without any concerns. “But those three were retested, and they came back with no concern,” he said. “It was 900 tests and 900 results back below the state level of concern.” In …

Jack Esposito inspires Panthers to be the best.
Bridgewater-Raritan High School student Jack Esposito has been a fixture on the baseball team for three years—and he brings luck to the boys each year. Esposito, who has fragile-X syndrome, is the manager of the team, and serves as the bat boy. He is at every game, and provides support to his teammates. Esposito has also competed in the Special Olympics for the past two years. Members of the team said they enjoy having Esposito on the team, and feel like something is missing when he is not with the team.

Discussions are still being held about what to do concerning a dress code for students and staff at Bridgewater-Raritan High School and the rest of the district—but the official word from high school principal Lew Ludwig is to just have better enforcement. “This is for student and staff dress code, and the policy committee felt that it could be a lengthy discussion and possible a hot topic,” said board member Daniel Petrozelli at the May 8 meeting. “Do we really want to go with a full dress code, do we do it grade by grade, school by school or at the district level?” Superintendent of Schools Michael Schilder said a report from the high school concluded that the current dress code should remain in place and it should not be changed, but …

Students at the Bridgewater-Raritan High School are continuing their work with Homes of Living Hope to prepare a medical center that will be sent to Uganda for use by those in need. At the high school Wednesday, Francis Nyang, general overseer of the Medical Clinic installation in Uganda, will be visiting the students to tell them about how much their contribution will mean to the people there. So in honor of that, we present five things to know about the project at this point.

Lillian Swickle recognized, as is Joy Auerbach with youth award.
The Brotherhood of Temple Beth-El Lillian Swickle of Bridgewater this year’s Person of Honor. Swickle currently serves as first vice president. A past president of the temple’s sisterhood, Swickle has been active in every aspect of temple life for 43 years, making newcomers and long-standing members alike feel welcomed and keeping the temple on track in all of its endeavors, according to a release from the temple. She will become temple president in June 2013. Swickle will be honored at the brotherhood’s Person of Honor Breakfast on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the temple. The cost for the breakfast is $18 per person. If they are going to feel slighted by the outcome of negotiations, do you really think they are going to worry about enforcing a dress code regarding what a kids t-shirt says?
