The squad relies on its members to donate time and energy to serve neighbors in need. The group was founded in 1950 by volunteers looking to serve the community. Aside from the volunteers, the squad relies on donations that are applied to operational budgets and pay for the upkeep of the building, emergency vehicles, new equipment and training.
The volunteer members of the squad supply emergency medical services and rescue coverage to the Bradley Gardens section of the township. The group also provides additional coverage to four other service areas in the township and six nearby towns through mutual aid agreements.
The squad is a nonprofit organization. Cadets must be between 16 and 18 years old and have permission from their parents or guardians to ride in ambulances from 6pm - 10pm on duty nights and 6am - 10pm on weekends. Drivers must be 21 years or older with valid New Jersey driver's licenses and clean records. Members must be at least 18 years old and willing to be trained in CPR and EMT. Social members are those who participate in squad support operations.

The first type of sponsorship allows the sponsor to have the company name on team jerseys and plaques made with the team pictures. The second option is to have advertising banners on outfield fences at Ardmaer Field.
