Death of Man Missing Since '73 Under Investigation

Prosecutor's office says DNA match was made of man reported missing to Bridgewater police.

Authorities are investigating the death of a man who was reported missing to Bridgewater police almost 40 years ago. A DNA match was made by a Texas university identifying skeletal remains found in 1984 as Joseph Dziowgo, a resident of Drake Street in Bound Brook at the time of he went missing, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano. The Bridgewater Police Department received a report that Dziowgo was missing on May 10, 1973 when he was residing in Bound Brook with his wife and daughter, according to Soriano. Soriano said that in May of 2010 his office informed the family about a DNA initiative through the University of North Texas and subsequently obtained a DNA sample from each family member.
