District Considering Advertising at BRHS, BRMS

Board approves resolution to look into advertising.

The board of education approved a resolution at Tuesday's meeting that appoints Advantage3 as the company to determine whether there are opportunities for advertising at the middle and high school. The board has discussed in the past whether it would be in the best interests of the district to consider allowing advertising on fields and other locations. Recently, the finance committee determined it would be appropriate to at least look into it. "We had a presentation from the company, and what we're doing is allowing them to look at the high school and middle school facilities," said board member Lynne Hurley. Why is the district paying for this?? When an electrician comes to my house to bid on work, I am not charged. Advantage3 should do this gratis with the proviso that if the district gives it the green light, they get the contract.   more ›

Poll: Should the District Bring in Advertising?

The board of education is preparing to consider a resolution at the March 27 meeting that will appoint an outside company to look into district-owned property that could support advertising—and we want to know what you think about that. The district has been discussing this possibility for about a year, with considerations of putting advertising on school buses, among other options. And at the March 13 board of education meeting, board vice president Patrick Breslin said the facilities committee has put forward a request to have a company look into options to be presented for the board. Just what we need, more distractions/brainwashing for our students with advertising & NJEA billboards in the school hallways and classrooms. You better watch out at the bus stop as drivers will be too busy reading the billboard on the buses to notice the flashing lights and children crossing.
