Senior Health Fair Coming to Bridgewater

The free fair will be held Thursday at the senior center.

The Bridgewater Township Department of Human Services will host its annual senior health fair March 21 at the Bridgewater Senior Center. The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free event is part of the Bridgewater Mayors Wellness Campaign, and will provide health screenings including hearing evaluations, skin cancer screenings and eye examinations. According to a release from the township, there will be additional health evaluations, including blood pressure screening, blood glucose tests and body stress evaluations. In addition to the evaluation, a free continental breakfast will be available until 11 a.m., and the event will also feature door prizes and raffles. Lance Talks Social Security, Oil Drilling

With questions mostly focusing on Medicare and social security, Rep. Leonard Lance (R-7) spoke before members of the Bridgewater Senior Center Tuesday. Lance spoke about specific constituent concerns, including Medicare, social security and veteran health care, answering questions and focusing on the issues that he said he believes matter most to seniors citizens in the area. "Most important in Washington is the state of the American economy, which is not as strong as any of us would like," he said. "And unemployment is over 9 percent in New Jersey." Council Briefs: BR to Join Cooperative Pricing Council

What follows is an account of actions taken on April 2 by the Bridgewater Township Council, which, while not breaking news, are still of note. Council joins Cooperative Pricing Council The council unanimously approved a resolution to enter into an agreement with the Morris County Cooperative Pricing Council for a period from Oct. 1, 2011 through Sept. 30, 2016. The council was created in 1974 for conducting a voluntary cooperative pricing system for savings on goods and services. According to council president Allen Kurdyla, the cost of joining is $1,500.
