Negotiations Stall Between Supervisors, Board of Ed

Association declares impasse, expected to file for mediation.

About one month after the principals association declared impasse in its contract discussions with the board of education, the Bridgewater-Raritan Supervisors Association has done the same. Board of education Patrick Breslin said Tuesday the association has declared impasse with the board. The most recent meeting, Breslin said was held Jan. 17. “The board’s negotiations committee met with representatives of the Bridgewater-Raritan Supervisors Association,” he said in a statement. “The parties did not reach an agreement on salary or longevity issues.” After a two-hour meeting, Breslin said, the association advised the board that it would be declaring impasse and filing for mediation. “We are eager to see a fair and equitable resolution,” he…

Principals Association Declares Impasse in Negotiations

And discussions are continuing with the Supervisors Association.

The board of education is beginning its negotiations with both the Bridgewater-Raritan Supervisors Association and the Bridgewater-Raritan Principals Association—and one has already declared impasse. Board of education president Evan Lerner said Tuesday that the board's negotiating committee participated in a session Dec. 13 with the Bridgewater-Raritan Principals Association. At the end of the meeting, the BRPA announced that it would be declaring an impasse and filing documents with the state's Department of Labor. "Thus, direct negotiations between the parties have terminated and the parties will enter non-binding mediation in the next few months," Lerner said in a statement concerning the negotiations.
