Those involved were Hemang Dama, Jack McManus, Morgan Nelson and Amit Nitin, as well as science coordinator and team advisor Rob Ambrose. Ambrose said the team was looking to develop an experiment that could solve a problem in their local community. “The problem they decided on was turning wasted food scraps and paper from the school cafeteria into compost which could be used to supplement the soil in the school’s gardens,” he said. Ambrose said they conducted a survey in early January to figure out how much food was being wasted in the school cafeteria …

Students Achieve in Science, German, Much More

Students are recognized for achievement across the district.

Cheryl Dyer, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, made mention of many of these achievements at a recent board of education meeting. First, Dyer said, fourth graders participated in the vocal portion of the festival of the arts March 13, the first time they had done so in several years. “It was a nice addition to the program and provided the young vocalists with an opportunity to see the talent of the older students as they performed,” she said. Bridgewater Author Part of Literary Day

The event was held recently at the middle school.

The Bridgewater Middle School recently played host to Author's Literary Day, welcoming local authors sharing their young adult and children's works. Featured authors were B.G. Kain, born and raised in Bridgewater, and Warren resident Corey Rosen Schwartz. During the evening, the authors spoke about their books and answered questions. "It was informative and fun for the children of all ages," said Laura Waitze Zuckerman, who attended the event. "I think it was a wonderful way for children to not just see a name on a book, but learn about the author, who they are, where they came from and how they were inspired to write books. It also put a face to a name." Books were sold at the event, and authors signed them and wrote special messages to …
