Accidents Remain Steady Along Route 22 Corridor

Route 22 short-term improvements are being done to eliminate accidents.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation is planning a collection of short-term improvements for Route 22 through Bridgewater with a goal of improving safety and reducing accidents. Such improvements include closing the U-turns in the medians on Route 22, constructing a traffic light at the intersection of Foothill and Ronson roads and more, most of which are expected to be done in Spring 2014. These are the proposed projects in the short-term improvements: Most of these improvements are being done to reduce accidents along the Route 22 corridor. According to documentation from the NJDOT, accidents reported in the areas of some of the improvements have remained fairly steady, although full information from 2012 was not yet available. …

Update: Traffic Flowing After Earlier Accidents on I-78

Police said they are working on clearing accidents.

Traffic was observed to be flowing in both directions of Interstate 78 at the interchange with Route 287 as of about 10 a.m. after State Police said multi-vehicle accidents took place an hour or two earlier. Although there are no major injuries, State Police at Somerville barracks said at about 9:30 a.m. on Thursday they were working on clearing the accidents, which were reported before 9 a.m. Patch will continue to update this story.
