Companies Help Build a Home For a Single Mother in Need
Volunteers from Verizon and CA Technologies donate a day to helping Michelle Harris, a local single mother.
Hard hats and the ringing of hammers filled Dutch Lane Tuesday as about 20 volunteers from Verizon Communications, Inc. and CA Technologies donated their day to building a home for a family in need through Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity's largest project. The home being built will be given to Michelle Harris and her 8-year-old son, Jonathan, who have spent the past five years living in a single, unheated room in a family member's basement. The house is being fully funded by Verizon and Cisco Systems, Inc. Harris's new house will be part of a nine-home Dutch Lane neighborhood being built by Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity, and set to house 12 adults and 27 children when it is fully completed.
