20-year-old woman killed in I-78 crash identified as Florida resident.
State police in Trenton say an investigation continues into the one-car crash along Interstate 78 early Thanksgiving morning that killed a Somerville mother, injured her two sons, and killed another woman from Florida. The two brothers remained hospitalized on Monday. One of the women who died, Natasha Melendez, 20, was identified by state police Public Information Officer Sgt. Adam Grossman as being a resident of Green Acres, Fla. Two women dead after vehicle left roadway, crashed into trees along I-78 in Bernards, police say.
Two women were killed when the vehicle they were in ran off the roadway and struck trees on Interstate 78 in Bernards Township early Thursday morning, State Police said. Tonya Gordon, 44, of Somerville, and Natasha Melendez, 20, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman. State Police did not immediately know where Melendez resided. According to Grossman, Davante Gordon, 20, of Somerville, was driving westbound when he lost control of his Nissan Maxima, near mile marker 33.8, ran off the left side of the road and hit two trees at about 2:30 a.m. According to Grossman, the front-seat passenger, Melendez, was ejected from the car. Cause of accident that took Far Hills man's life still under investigation.
A 31-year-old Far Hills man died Friday night in Bridgewater after his car veered off of Interstate 287 and then became engulfed in flames, Sergeant Julian Castellanos of the New Jersey State Police said. According to police, James Reilly was driving northbound on 287 at 9:28 p.m. when his car veered off of the road and struck a guardrail. The vehicle then rolled into the concrete embankment, before becoming engulfed in flames near mile marker 16.6 in Bridgewater, police said. Police confirmed that Reilly was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. at Somerset Medical Center.
