Woman Seriously Hurt After Car Flips Over On I-78

Accident occurred around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

A single car accident on Interstate 78 in Bedminster near the ramp to Interstate 287 on Saturday morning left the driver of a white Nissan Sentra hospitalized with serious injuries, according to Sgt. Bryan Polite of the New Jersey State Police. Andrea Sanchez, 23, of Washington Township, was trapped in her overturned vehicle when the state police arrived on the scene at 2 a.m., Polite said. After being freed from the car, which had overturned onto its passenger side, Sanchez was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, Polite said. The Bridgewater Police Department and the Somerset Medical Center Mobile Intensive Care Unit assisted at the scene and the accident is still under investigation, Polite said.

Car Injures Construction Worker on I-287 Ramp

State Police reporting injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.

A worker at the construction site where the Interstate 287 northbound ramp intersects with Route 22 westbound was hit by a vehicle early Friday morning. New Jersey State Police report that Barry Olsen, 55, of Mansfield, was walking across three lanes of traffic from one active construction site to another at 3:38 a.m. when he was struck by a Ford F150 pickup truck. The truck was reportedly traveling on the ramp from I-287 northbound. There were no police or traffic patrols at that time. Olsen was taken to Somerset Medical Center, where he complained of shoulder and neck plain. There were no life-threatening injuries, according to the State Police. A complete accident report is pending.
