Bridgewater Woman Charged in Motorcycle Crash

Warren police say woman failed to follow traffic signal before hitting motorcyclist.

A Bridgewater woman was charged Tuesday after she allegedly hit a motorcycle driven by a Warren resident while driving on Mountain Boulevard in the township. Warren Police charged Kim Maloney, 46, with failing to observe the westbound traffic signal after the vehicle she was driving hit a motorcycle driven by Warren resident Jeff Gutkin near Mt. Bethel Road at 7:26 p.m. Gutkin, 51, was taken to Somerset Medical Center following the accident. Rescue squad volunteers responded to the accident and took Gutkin to the center. Hospital officials have not responded to a request for information on Gutkin's condition.

UPDATE: Motorcyclist Still in Surgical ICU

A Brooklyn man is still in the surgical intensive care unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital after a motorcycle accident on Route 287 Sunday evening. Edwin Rivera, 42, is still at the hospital, according to a representative from Robert Wood Johnson, after he suffered critical injuries to his extremities in the accident that occurred at about 7:30 p.m. According to New Jersey State Trooper Christopher Kay, there is no further information about the cause of the accident itself. What is known at this point, Kay said, is that Rivera was driving his motorcycle at speeds exceeding the speed limit when a white Hyundai entered his lane. everyone who rides or wants to ride should definately take a rider ed class...maybe then they will learn and courtesy and safety....a lot of riders have no preception of consequences of recklessness and carelessness until it's too late.   more ›
