Rex Ryan Crashes Mustang in Pennsylvania

NY Jets coach 'did not deny causing the accident' after allegedly going through red light.

New York Jets head football coach Rex Ryan told authorities he was trying “to beat the light” when he apparently caused a minor three-car crash during the evening rush hour last week in Bethlehem, Pa., police said. The accident occurred at the intersection of Wyandotte and W. Third streets, just south of the Hill-to-Hill Bridge on Jan. 14 at 6:13 p.m. One eyewitness and the driver of one of the other two cars in the crash told police they saw a 2013 red Ford Mustang, which Ryan was driving, go through a red light as it traveled west along W. Third Street, police said. Though police said the investigation remains ongoing, the partially redacted accident report Bethlehem officials released Tuesday said Ryan, a Summit resident, received a …

Route 206 Car Fire, Girl Cheers With Jets Top Local News

The one-year anniversary of Hurricane Irene also leads local headlines.

A three-car crash tied up traffic on Route 206 just past Commons Way Tuesday, as one car hit another, which hit another, and the car that caused the pile-up caught on fire. A local girl was the first disabled person to be part of a cheerleading camp with the New York Jets Flight Crew, and she performed with them recently at the first pre-season game between the New York Jets and the New York Giants. Police declined to give any more information, out of respect for the family, after the person found dead in a vehicle behind Best Buy apparently committed suicide. An Old York Road resident wants to ensure that she gets her home flood-proofed before possibly losing her furnace and more again in another event similar to last year's Hurricane …

NY Jets Cheerleaders Bring Smile to Young Girl's Face

Jadyn Waiser, of Bridgewater, joins NY Jets Flight Crew cheerleaders in a preseason halftime performance.

She is a lover of dance, but for 8-year-old Jadyn Waiser, of Bridgewater, she took that to a whole new level Saturday when she performed with the New York Jets Junior Flight Crew during the halftime performance of a Jets preseason game against the New York Giants Saturday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. And for Waiser, she was able and excited to perform despite her autism, and was the first child with special needs to take part in the performance. Diagnosed with autism at age 2, Waiser didn’t start talking until age 5, and didn’t have much communication abilities until the last year or so. “She has some language now, and, as with any child with autism, she struggles with the social aspect,” said Michelle Waiser, Jadyn’s mother. “…

Fans from all over New Jersey and surrounding areas come out to see the public practice.

Thousands of fans lined up on Thursday morning to see the New York Jets for their very first public practice this preseason at their Florham Park home. The practice, which is the first of two public practices that will be held this week, started at 12:30 p.m., but some devoted fans got there as early at 8:30 a.m. Around 11 a.m. hundreds of people started filling the line to get into the Fan Fest, which started at 11:30 a.m. In the hour leading up to practice, kids participated in many activities at the fest, including bounce houses, face …

Home 'Trumps' All for Tebow? It May Be QB's Best Option

Area real estate agents say gated communities are scarce if that's his wish.

Is Tim Tebow trying to take Mark Sanchez's job and invade his neighborhood? That's what some were saying when a report surfaced over the weekend that the newest New York Jet was looking at a home in the upscale Trump National Golf Club community in Bedminister. It also happens to contain the residence of the team's current starting quarterback. It's not hard to see why some were doing a double-take. After all, the most highly-publicized backup quarterback ever has not only been getting all of the media attention, but that comes right after Sanchez signed a three-year contract extension. Many fans believe he's here to take Sanchez's job. But now his house? Then again, Tebow's options may be limited, according to area real estate agents. "…

Tim Tebow Introduced, Minus Flock of Fans [VIDEO]

Jets' highly publicized backup QB introduced at team's Morris County training facility.

Tebow Mania hit New Jersey on Monday, but it was the media and not the fans who bombarded the New York Jets’ Morris County training facility as the most-publicized backup QB acquisition ever was officially unveiled. Tim Tebow spoke to reporters for the first time since the trade, saying he expects a "great working relationship" with current quarterback Mark Sanchez, according to ESPN.com Tebow’s introductory conference caused a larger crowd than any free agent, trade, or Rex Ryan comment fallout Gang Green has ever seen since moving to the Atlantic Health Jets Training Facility in Florham Park. The proof: it was the first time the team ever had to herd the press into the field house to accommodate a greater presence. More than 200 media …

I'm excited and can't wait for Tebow to run the wildcat for the Jets. Maybe it will give Sanchez the kick in the butt he needs to improve. If it doesn't and Sanchez sucks again, then it is time to move on.   more ›

Fans Enjoy Jets Open Camp Practice in Florham Pk.

New York is holding its training camp at its home facility for the first time since moving to Morris County.

As NFL football starts up again–thankfully for fans–training camps have begun opening, as the lockout was lifted last week. Hundreds from around the area flocked to Florham Park's Atlantic Health Training Center, home of the New York Jets. The team held its initial public practice on Tuesday during its first training camp at the Morris County facility. The Jets decided to hold camp at its year-round home away from the New Meadowlands Stadium instead of its previously scheduled site SUNY Cortland in Cortland, N.Y., due to the length of the lockout. The practice was part of a public event, which featured games, merchandise booths, and, of course, the players running drills. Former New York Giant Plaxico Burress was on the field on Tuesday …
