A Bridgewater woman was taken by medevac helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Friday after she was found trapped in her car that had overturned under the pedestrian bridge at the Bridgewater Commons Mall. According to a press release from the Bridgewater Township Police Department, Barbara O'Rourke, 59, was driving south on the Outer Ring Road near Macy's around 3:55 p.m. when she may have suffered a medical emergency. The release said her vehicle struck a guardrail and went airborne for about 50 feet before striking the Sgt. Andrew Lobosco Pedestrian Bridge. A car hit another that had pulled to the side of Route 22.
All parties refused medical attention after a vehicle struck a parked car on Route 22 West near Milltown Road Monday. According to North Branch Fire Chief David Hickson, a vehicle had pulled to the side of Route 22 to use a cell phone around 2:30 p.m. Another vehicle travelling west struck the parked car, he said. "Although both vehicles sustained major damage, all drivers and passengers refused medical attention," he said. Still, Hickson said, the North Branch Fire Company and Green Knoll Fire Company were called to the scene because of a stuck door. A motor vehicle was found overturned deep in the woods in the area of Gaston Avenue and Adamsville Road Tuesday afternoon. According to North Branch Fire Chief David Hickson, the Green Knoll Fire Department and the North Branch Fire Department were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on the report of an overturned motor vehicle. "A single motor vehicle was found upside down deep into the woods," he said. Hickson said one person had extricated himself and a dog from the vehicle, but did sustain injuries in the accident, and he was taken from the scene by the Somerset Mobile Intensive Care Unit. Animal had fallen through ice in the North Branch of the river before being pulled out by firefighters.
A black Labrador and Rottweiler mix dog was pulled from the Raritan River by Bridgewater firefighters Wednesday evening after it fell through the ice. According to North Branch fire chief David Hickson, he received a call from Bridgewater Township Police around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday that there was a report of a dog having fallen through the ice in the North Branch of the Raritan River between Branchburg and Bridgewater. North Branch and Green Knoll firefighters were dispatched to a home on Stillwell Court after the residents started their Audi in the driveway and it caught fire Tuesday, according to North Branch Fire Chief David Hickson. Hickson said the firefighters were dispatched at 12 p.m. because of a reported car that was on fire, but believed to be out. As soon as he arrived on the scene, Hickson said, the visible flames had subsided, but the car was still involved in the fire. "The fire, which had settled into an area between the engine and the firewall, was still active and visible smoke could be seen," he said. Elizabeth teen was initially revived after being pulled out of Raritan River Sunday.
A 19-year-old man who was pulled from the Raritan River Sunday afternoon died Sunday night, Bridgewater Police Chief Richard Borden said. Pedro Rosa, of Elizabeth, was revived after being pulled from the river just west of Milltown Road. Rosa was found without a pulse and not breathing, police said. He was revived on the scene and transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he died Monday morning, Borden said. Bridgewater Township Police Officer Mark Zaslavsky was the point officer, leading the resuscitation efforts. According to North Branch Fire Co.
