Developmentally Disabled Housing Approved

Resolution had been held in case public wanted to comment on the location switch.

The council unanimously approved a resolution last week that will allow for an agreement with Our House Inc. for developmentally disabled housing at Helfreds Landing, Pearl Street and Burning Bush Road. The resolution was initially tabled Nov. 29 because Councilman Filipe Pedroso wanted residents in that area to be made aware of the change in case they wanted to comment. This resolution enables the use of the latter two sites instead of the originally planned homes on Foothill and Roanoke roads because plans for the purchases in those locations fell through. I think the overall cause is very admirable, and applaud the council for making this a reality. I do however feel the lack of communication with the residents was unacceptable. Bridgewater is a tight knit community and the residents deserve to know what is going on in that community. Council Seeks Input on Developmentally Disabled Housing

It is part of the already approved COAH plan.

The council is considering a resolution amending an agreement with Our House, Inc. for developmentally disabled housing in line with the township’s COAH plans—but first they want to see what the residents think. The council had previously approved its COAH plan, which includes an expectation for Our House to create three developmentally disabled housing units on Helfreds Landing, Foothill Road and Roanoke Road. I live in a town with 14 homes for the disabled ,I have never heard of any issues, but a pleasant neighbors are made of are kind and responsible people . The neighbors embrace these programs and are huge supports along with some wonderful jobs openings for themselves .and again after many years no issues just a responsible neighbor so get out of your little issues and move if you don't like it …   more ›
