Bridgewater Residents Enter Day 4 Without Power

And many are fed up with the slow process.

As many residents enter the fourth day without power in Bridgewater, tensions are high with some wondering when it will return. Denise DeRose Meyer said on the Bridgewater Patch Facebook Page that she doesn't understand why the process is taking so long for some, but not for others. "Why is the North Branch area of town without power for so long?" she said. "I lost it for four days in the ice storm last year and now again on day four, yet other ares of town have had power since Tuesday." According to the numbers as of 10 a.m. Friday, a total of 2,038 JCP&L customers are still without power, down from 2,180 Thursday. Representatives from JCP&L have said that the majority of customers will be restored by Nov. 7, with those in the hardest-hit…

Power Slowly Returning to Bridgewater

Both PSE&G and JCP&L outages are slowly dwindling.

Despite thousands of people still being without power across the state, residents in Bridgewater are very slowly seeing it come back as the week continues. For example, according to resident Gerry Szachara, who posted on the Bridgewater Patch Facebook page, power returned to the Finderne section of town Wednesday morning. Here are the numbers as they stand, according to the power companies: These figures are all as of 10 a.m. Thursday. Many businesses in town still remain dark Thursday, including several stores at the Village at Commons. The municipal building remains without power, but is open Thursday until 2 p.m., using natural light to help with time sensitive issues. Milltown Primary School is the only one in the district that …

The Sunset Lake area is still without power. Lines are down and and trees are also down blocking some streets so residents can't leave. This is a serious situation since emergency vehicles can't get through to these people if needed.   more ›

15,000 Without Power in Bridgewater

That is mostly PSE&G customers throughout town.

Nearly 15,000 people are without power in Bridgewater Tuesday after Hurricane Sandy ripped through the area Monday, according to Bridgewater Township Police Chief Richard Borden. "Low hanging wires have become an increasing problem," he said. "The township has no power and is obviously closed." For PSE&G customers, more than 10,000 residents are dealing with no power as of 11 a.m. Tuesday. And another 2,345 JCP&L customers are without power also as of 11 a.m. Tuesday. How are you dealing with the lack of power?

Spotty Power Outages Reported in Township

The municipal complex lost power about 45 minutes ago.

The municipal complex has canceled Monday's 7 p.m. planning board meeting because of a power outage after a thunderstorm hit Bridgewater around 4:30 p.m. The Wemple property hearing, which was scheduled to continue Monday, has been rescheduled, although a new date has not yet been set. Some power outages have been reported throughout the township, although they are few and far between, according to reports from JCP&L and PSE&G. JCP&L is reporting only about five outages due to the storm. PSE&G is reporting between one and 500 outages throughout the township, with similar numbers being reported in Bound Brook and Green Brook. Although the sun seems to be coming back out, are you dealing with any power outages in your area, Bridgewater?
