The first day of drop-off will be May 4.
The First Saturday of the Month Drop-off Event for recycling in Somerset County will take place this weekend on Polhemus Lane in Bridgewater. The event will be held at the Somerset County Recycling Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The event allows residents to drop off tires, clean textiles and usual curbside items all at once when they are too busy to do so during the week. In addition, residents can take the opportunity to donate food items for the local food bank. Residents are encouraged to recycle electronics at the new public works facility.
The township is continuing its recycling agreement with the county for curbside pickup throughout the year. The council unanimously approved the continuation of the recycling program at the March 4 council meeting. The pickup for curbside recyclable materials is done at $23.85 per household for 2012, with 16,667 households to be serviced in total. That total will not exceed $397,507.95. This recycling program is continued from previous years, and the costs are the same as in previous years. “There is no increase from the previous year, it’s stable,” township administrator James Naples said. The county, Naples said, is moving toward single stream recycling for Green Brook and South Bound Brook, which would not require the separation of …

It is part of the Department of Public Works facility.
Bridgewater is offering an electronic recycling drop-off location on Chimney Rock Road, particularly now that the holidays are over. Scrap electronics—including televisions, computers, iPads, cell phones and other electronic items—are required to be recycled in Somerset County. A new recycling drop-off location is now open at the township’s new Public Works Facility on Chimney Rock Road. The facility will be open for disposal from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the dumpster is open to the entire county, not just Bridgewater residents. These items can be recycled at the facility: For more information, contact the Bridgewater Health Department by calling 908-725-5750, or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.

A dumpster will be set up near the quarry.
In an effort to continue recycling opportunities in the township, the council unanimously approved a resolution Nov. 19 to set a contract with Donjon Recycling for a dumpster at the new DPW site near the quarry. According to township administrator James Naples, the township has been working on this contract for months, and it will be at no cost to the township. The dumpster, Naples said, will be entirely for electronic waste, like computers, television sets and other similar equipment that needs to be recycled. “The company is providing the free dumpster,” he said. Basically, Naples said, the township is required to file a list of all items that are recycled in the municipality, and then there is a grant that pays back the state, with the …
