The Crime Stoppers of Somerset County Inc. is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information concerning the 1973 disappearance and murder of Bound Brook resident Joseph Dziowgo, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano. According to Soriano, on May 10, 1973, Bridgewater Township Police received a report that then 25-year-old Dziowgo, living on Drake Street in Bound Brook, was missing. In May 2010, Soriano said, Somerset County Prosecutor's Office detectives spoke to Dziowgo's family about a DNA initiative through the University of North Texas. No charges are being filed against the Cedar Crest Road resident who filed a false report about a home invasion Tuesday, according to a release from the Bridgewater Township Police Department. According to a statement released by Lt. Al Nicaretta, a resident on Cedar Crest Road contacted police around 10:26 a.m. Tuesday to report a home invasion. An investigation was conducted by both the Bridgewater Township Police and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. Both determined that the alleged victim had fabricated the report of the invasion, the release said. A 30-year-old Elizabeth man was arrested after being found with $12,000 worth of morphine pills on Thursday night, when a tip led detectives to a Bridgewater restaurant on Route 22, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. Michael "Diego" Silva has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, Somerset Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano said. Detectives found Silva at the establishment at about 9:30 p.m. when they entered the building after receiving information previously that he would be in the area while in possession of a large quantity of morphine pills, Soriano said. Authorities are investigating the death of a man who was reported missing to Bridgewater police almost 40 years ago. A DNA match was made by a Texas university identifying skeletal remains found in 1984 as Joseph Dziowgo, a resident of Drake Street in Bound Brook at the time of he went missing, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano. The Bridgewater Police Department received a report that Dziowgo was missing on May 10, 1973 when he was residing in Bound Brook with his wife and daughter, according to Soriano. A Bound Brook woman was sentenced to seven years of prison on Thursday for setting a 2011 fire that injured multiple people at a two-family home, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano Said. Yanilda Rosario, 40, had pleaded guilty on Aug. 3 to charges of six counts of aggravated arson and one count of aggravated assault. In exchange for the plea, the prosecution recommended that she serve seven years in state prison with 85 percent of the term to be served without parole in accordance with the No Early Release Act. A New York City man was found guilty Wednesday of assault charges in a Somerset County Courthouse after being arrested in 2010 following a high-speed chase that injured a woman. Julio Rivera, 36, was found guilty of second-degree eluding and second-degree aggravated assault during the course of eluding police. A Bridgewater man was found to be in possession of $2,600 worth of heroin and was charged with, among other things, possession with the intent to distribute, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano. Ian Nunez, 31, of Finderne Avenue, was arrested after detectives witnessed him pick up a quantity of the drug in Newark and return it to his home on Wednesday, Soriano said. An Irvington man was arrested Tuesday on drug and possessions charges after he was arrested outside the Raritan Train Station on Anderson Street in Raritan, according to the prosecutor's office. Darues King, 20, was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of cocaine in the incident. A North Carolina man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the burglary of Boro Liquors, on Route 206 in Raritan, Aug. 26. David Hunt, 21, was charged with burglary and theft in the incident. According to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano, Raritan Borough Police were sent to the liquor store at 11:43 p.m. Aug. 26 for an activated burglary alarm.
