An engineer with the township will discuss traffic at Union and Finderne avenues.
CVS is returning to the zoning board Tuesday concerning an application for a new building on the corner of Finderne and Union avenues, and an engineer for the township is expected to discuss traffic concerns at the intersection. The application was originally before the board earlier this year, but board members were concerned about the additional traffic at the intersection, including the proposals for having right in and right out access on Union and full access to the building onto Finderne. After working with the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the county, CVS representatives have said that if the application is approved, it will pay for revising the intersection by creating a dedicated left turn lane on both sides of Union…

The application is voted down, 4-3 against the applicant.
After nearly two years of deliberation, hearings and testimony, the Bridgewater Township Zoning Board of Adjustment ruled 4-3 Tuesday to deny an application from T-Mobile for a 130-foot cell tower at the Green Knoll Volunteer Fire Company. The decision was met with applause from the residents in attendance, who came out strongly against the application with a variety of concerns. Chief among those concerns was the impact a 130-foot cell phone tower would have on the aesthetics and overall character of the surrounding neighborhoods. “A lot of the firemen will not see it every single day, except for when they call into work,” said Gail Naughton, of Eddy Lane. “The residents will, every single day.” “I think we can all agree that continued …

T-Mobile returning for final testimony.
After initial testimony Feb. 22 from real estate appraiser Robert Heffernan concerning a cell tower's affects on property values in the neighborhood of the Green Knoll Volunteer Fire Company, T-Mobile attorney Greg Meese is expected to continue his cross examination at Tuesday's zoning board meeting. Heffernan was hired by resident Joseph Kirk to evaluate property values in the area of the fire company and how they will change if T-Mobile is approved to build its 130-foot cell tower. Heffernan testified at the Feb. 22 zoning board meeting that building the cell tower at the fire company would affect the property values of the area homes. He said there are no similar towers anywhere in the vicinity in Bridgewater, and that properties in …

The application for the business has been continued to May.
Despite being appeased about some concerns of signs at the proposed CVS at the intersection of Finderne Avenue and Route 28, for members of the zoning board of adjustment, the biggest issue is with the perceived burden on traffic. The zoning board heard a continuation Tuesday of an application concerning a proposed CVS on 2.75 acres of land at the intersection that is currently undeveloped. The drug store, if built, would be 14,600 square feet. But for the zoning board, the biggest concern was the applicant's desire for unrestricted access in and out of the parking lot from Finderne Avenue. According to engineer David Caruso, the current plan is to have one entrance and exit off Route 28 that only allows for right turns in and out of the …

Ms. Robinson is absolutely correct. What is this building going to be used for? There have been quite a few fender benders and several major accidents at this intersection. What is needed is a delayed traffic signal on Union Avenue going East. You cannot see the opposite lane which can either go straight or make a right hand turn onto Finderne Avenue towards 22. It is an all time mess.   more ›
