A Bridgewater man was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty in August to possessing child pornography on a laptop computer and DVDs in his home, according to United States District Attorney Paul Fishman. David Tuytjens, 57, had previously pleaded guilty in federal court to possession of child pornography, and he was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Michael A. Shipp in Trenton federal court. In addition to the 120 months in prison, Tuytjens was sentenced to five years of supervised release, restricted contact with minors and monitoring of his use of the computer. A Bridgewater man with a prior sexual assault conviction faces a minimum of 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography on his laptop, according to the Department of Justice. David W. Tuytjens, 56, admitted in Trenton federal court Thursday that he stored pictures and videos of child pornography on his laptop, as well as on DVDs recovered from his residence. According to documents filed in the case, officers from the New Jersey State Parole Board examined Tuytjens' laptop during a visit to his residence that was part of required supervision connected to a prior conviction for sexual assault. Bridgewater man served 13 years for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
A Bridgewater man out on parole after being convicted 10 years ago for sexually assaulting a child was arrested Monday for possession of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. David W. Tuytjens, 56, was found with child pornography on his computer and on DVDs in his Bridgewater residence, according to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman. Tuytjens was expected to appear in court later Monday. According to the criminal complaint, officers from the N.J. State Parole Board examined Tuytjens' laptop computer during a visit to his home in April 2011.
