3-Car Accident Closes Turn Onto Country Club Road

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The turn onto Country Club Road from Route 22 West was closed Tuesday evening after police were called to a three-car accident off the main highway. The accident occurred around 5:45 p.m., and Bridgewater Township Police said there were no injuries reported in the incident. Police said the small part of the road will be closed for a little while for the investigation. Route 22 itself is not affected by any traffic delays from the accident, police said. Inactive Rocket-Propelled Grenade Found in Home

Country Club Road residents evacuated Friday afternoon after device found in basement.

A rocket-propelled grenade found in the basement of a house on Country Club Road Friday was found to be inactive, according to Bridgewater Township Police. According to a release from the police department, officers responded to a call on the 400 block of Country Club Road at about 4:40 p.m. Friday, with the information that a resident had found an unexploded device. The item, a rocket-propelled grenade, was found in the basement, and the resident brought it up to the kitchen, police said. Once police determined that the grenade posed a hazard, they evacuated the residence and surrounding homes, while also closing down that section of Country Club Road, the release said. Bridgewater Awarded Roadwork Grant Money

It will go toward Country Club Road improvements.

Bridgewater is among hundreds of municipalities receiving funding for street improvement work through New Jersey Department of Transportation's Local Aid grants. The township will be receiving $140,000 for its Country Club Road Phase III project. The state is giving more than $78.4 million in grants for street improvements, rehabilitation and safety projects this year, all so they won't be paid for by local taxpayers, according to a release from the NJDOT. According to the release, 374 of the 661 grant applications were improved, with money awarded for those.
