By his statement "Naples said that none of the salaries will affect the budget because these figures and increases were already figured in to it before it was approved." Naples assumes that the residents of the municipality are stupid. If these salary increases were already figured into the budget, then of course this has impacted the budget and the resultant taxes that we will be paying. Unless of course there was an equivalent reduction in some other expense. And I am pretty sure there was none. How do these people get the nerve to give themselves a raise when the general economy is still struggling, house values have yet to recover and the unemployment is so high.

If LM used to bully the kids around, he deserves to be suspended and dismissed irrespective of what it does to the band program. If we expect the students to be disciplined, the teachers should be too. The teachers should be held to a higher standard and any deviation from it should be a cause for action. The band performs the way it does because of the kids who comprise the band. The coach I am sure had a role to play, but he is not indispensable and should be treated as such. Get a new leader who can inspire the kids and I am sure they will get back to their winning ways.

My experience with buying power from North American Power has not been good. Except for teaser rates which lasted a few months, and about a 1 cent per unit saving for a few additional months, the North American Power rates were more than JCP&L. I have now switched back to JCP&L. Unless the city can enter into a long term contract with one of these providers, there is no saying whether the city will save or spend more on energy. I would suggest extreme caution.

    1. There should be periodic automatic background checks of people who already own firearms so that they can be confiscated when then people fail the background check.
    2. How do you ensure that a person who buys a firearm legally does not give it to somebody who would have failed a background check. Just wondering if there could be some sort of technology in these firearms which would ensure that the firearm would discharge only if the person whose background check resulted in the purchase of this firearm pulls the trigger. In all other cases it just would not release.

What a light would do is force the motorists and the students stop and give each other the right of way at periodic intervals. When I was dropping off my daughter in the morning, I noticed that the students have no respect for the vehicles that are on the road. A bunch of about 10 kids walking from the YMCA did not even bother to look on both sides of the street before stepping on to the street. Granted they stepped in to the crosswalk but did not follow the basic road crossing rules. Maybe the YMCA parking for BRHS students should be scrapped and additional parking built within the school campus.

I don't understand what is the need to have a police officer stand there (and get paid for doing it) when a traffic light can do the trick. The lights should be timed and the length of time they stay red / green should depend upon the time of the day. It would greatly help ease the congestion on the road in the mornings and evenings.

teachB-R : You kidding me. Is it your position that the teachers would have made the concessions if the town residents were not so vehemently opposed to the BREA position ? I might have my sequence of events mixed up, but at the BOE sessions statements were made by the Board in the presence of BREA officers that the BREA had refused to open up their contract to look for savings.
