Hillsborough resident Cheryl Fenske has spent most of her career in journalism and communication.

After graduating from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) with a bachelor's degree in communication/secondary education, she taught English at Carteret High School before turning to community journalism.  She worked as a reporter/managing editor for the Somerset Spectator in Franklin Township and then moved up the ladder from reporter to editor and then executive editor for the Somerset Messenger-Gazette/NJN Publishing and its chain of weekly newspapers.

After spending some time in public relations, where she coordinated the communications activities for a several companies in the travel industry, she started Fenske Communications, utilizing her experience in such areas as corporate communications and copyediting while keeping her hand in community journalism.

A native New Jerseyan, Cheryl has lived in Hillsborough for more than 25 years. Her two children, Laura and Russ, graduated from Hillsborough High School. Today, when she's not working, she is enjoying her family and two grandsons; an avid baseball fan, during baseball season, you will find her watching Yankees games or cheering on the Somerset Patriots.

According to Cheryl, "Each day I come in contact with so many interesting people who let me into their lives – even for a little wile – and help me tell a story. Each day and each project is an opportunity to learn something new and share what I've learned with others."
