Fascinated by the art of good story telling since introduced to journalism by a professor in college, Garrison L. Vereen II strives to always report honestly, fairly and with insight, whether he is doing so as a writer, editor or a photographer.
Garrison has worked over the past five years as a sports journalist, working on stories from the local, regional and national arenas. From 2005 until 2008, he worked as a copy editor for the News and Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina, on a sports desk that covered Duke, University of North Carolina, the Carolina Panthers and central North Carolina high school sports.
As an intern at the New York Times in 2005, he worked on a sports desk during the NBA Finals. He says his most interesting day at work was just after the Rafael Palmerio performance enhancing drug scandal story broke.
Garrison is a 2005 graduate of Florida A &M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Public Relations, with a minor in Sociology.
