Basilone Parade

The Basilone Parade was first held in 1943 to welcome resident John Basilone home from war and honor him for winning the Congressional Medal of Honor. Basilone was the only enlisted Marine to be awarded both the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross, and was the only one to return to action, and be killed in action, after winning the medal. The parade is held every year in his honor.
