The Board of Education and the union representing supervisors in the Bridgewater-Raritan School District have reached an agreement on a new contract that expires in 2016.

Under the terms of the agreement ratified by the school board on Tuesday, the supervisors will receive a 2 percent raise in the 2013-14 school year, a 1.8 percent raise in the 2014-15 school year and a 1.75 percent increase in the 2015-16 school year.

In addition, the school board and union agreed on retroactive raises going back to July 1, 2011.

The supervisors will receive 2 percent raises for both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 school years.

Breslin also said the school board may be scheduling a special meeting to appoint an interim superintendent to replace Michael Schilder, who is retiring this summer.

The superintendent’s last day on the job will be July 12.

Breslin said the board is currently interviewing candidates for the job. In many cases, school districts in need of an interim superintendent turn to a pool of retired administrators who are paid on a per diem basis until a new superintendent starts.

Breslin said the special meeting may be held on July 11.
